Ulrich Loos, furniture maker

This web page is all about handmade furniture, made by me in my workshop in Aughrim in Co. wicklow, Ireland. I am not formally trained as a cabinet maker, my interest developed over years and I started making furniture with saw, hammer and sandpaper being my only tools. My favorite timber is red deal (pine), but I also work with hardwoods. Currently I am working on a tall closed bookshelf, made from wild cherry, which I fell myself four years ago and saved and air dried. The furniture I make involve machines only in the very early stages of the process and once the timber is planed to thickness everything else is done by hand, down to the finish.
